Advent Alumni Book Discussion: An Evening With Boethius featuring Dr. Matthew Walz

Join us for a lively discussion of Boethius’ Consolation of Philosophy, led by 2025 St. John Henry Newman Visiting Chair in Catholic Studies, Dr. Matthew Walz.

Refreshments will be served. Advance registration is required (registered participants will receive an advance complimentary copy of the Consolation of Philosophy [Ignatius Press Edition]):

 


 

Dr. Matthew Walz is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Dallas and the Director of Intellectual Formation for Holy Trinity Seminary. His research and writing focus on medieval and ancient philosophy and philosophical anthropology. He holds degrees from Christendom College and the Catholic University of America. In addition to publishing a translation of Anselm of Canterbury’s Proslogion, Dr. Walz has published articles on St. Anselm, Aquinas, Boethius, and Pope St. John Paul II for The Aquinas Review, the International Journal for Philosophy of Religion, the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly, and elsewhere.

Dr. Walz is a Senior Fellow of the Boethius Institute for the Advancement of Liberal Education, which serves the ongoing renewal of liberal arts education by assisting scholars and leaders to grow in their understanding and practice of the traditional liberal arts and sciences, while also growing in practical wisdom about the goals and means of education. He and his wife Teresa have eight children.
